Code of Practice
Recreational Stand Up Paddling Code of Practice
This code provides practical guidance to persons conducting a business or undertaking on how to comply with their health and safety duties when providing stand up paddling sessions in a range of SUP environments and SUP activities.
It applies to any other person who organises or leads SUP sessions and activities. And includes but is not limited to:
- Persons offering voluntary and paid services
- SUP instructors
- SUP School operators
- Organisers of social paddles
- Anyone who has a duty of care in the circumstances described in the code.
Like regulations, codes of practice deal with particular issues and do not cover all hazards or risks which may arise. The health and safety duties require duty holders to consider all risks associated with the recreational activity, not only those for which regulations and codes of practice exist.
